AVG Internet Security

Author: AVG Technologies
Part of: AVG
AVGRSX.exe is a process belonging to AVG, a popular internet security software suite that includes anti-virus.

This is the 'resident shield' process that should always be running to ensure your computer is protected. It scans all new files that enter your operating system (such as downloads from the internet) and checks to see if they are infected.

Any found security threats are alerted to the user via a pop-up windows, where the option to move the infected file to a secure quarantine is provided.

This process sped up during a thorough clean. AVG never used to drain resources like that. Uninstalling AVG & moving to alternative freeware.
