Is the Realsched.exe process a virus, spyware or malware?

Process description:

RealPlayer Updates Process

Author: Real
Part of: Real Player
Process associated with 'RealPlayer', responsible for checking for RealPlayer updates. Realsched.exe is a self-installing process that installs itself within your start-up configuration and is often associated with high CPU usage. While not malicious as such many users dislike this process's persistent self-installing and choose to disable it.

You can disable Realsched.exe by first launching RealPlayer and then:

* Click on 'Tools' and select 'Preferences'.
* Locate 'Automatic services'
* Select 'Message centre'.
* Select 'Configure message centre'.
* Deselect the option 'Checking'.
* Then choose 'Yes'

* You will of course no longer receive automatic updates to your RealPlayer application, so choosing to disable this feature is a matter of personal choice.
